Located just two hours from the international airport in the capital Costa Rica, Jacó is an energetic beach town, popular with surfers and party goers. At night the town lives up to its reputation as the Costa Del Sol of Central America.
Amid rolling hills of jungle and cleared land for pasture, Jaco opens into a wide cove of the Pacific ocean with rocky points on each end. The beach is a crescent shape framed by palm trees, surfer hotels, souvenir and boutique swim shops. There is good selection of hotels and restaurants, along with the occasional condo complex. By the standards of Central America, Jaco is one of the most developed beach towns, and has a prodigious main strip, which runs in parallel to the beach.
Jacó is a clean beach, good for surfing, boogie boarding, and swimming. However, there is a strong rip tide and caution is required.
Small Town with Big Nightlife
The surfer culture, beach atmosphere and the noisy nightlife make Jacó into a kind of mini Costa Del Sol, or Las Vegas on the beach. Here you are always in the presence of young people who know how to enjoy themselves. All kinds of fun-loving party animals congregate in the afternoon, making rounds between the beach and bar, until after dark when party really starts in the bars.
Night time bar hoping in Jaco almost seems to follow a schedule. With the pretty people wanting to be seen in the right place, and at the right time of the night or week. It seems that the collective bar brawl visits every vouge spot at least once during the night. However, the top places are the Monkey Bar, Beatle Bar, Los Amigos Bar, Le Loft, Plancton and Malecón. The music oscillates between hip-hop and reggaeton and everyone loves to dance to the Latin rhythm.
